The bloggers at 4mation Technologies have started a new series of staff profiles to introduce you to the people behind your websites and development projects! This week we have Steve Kane, who is one of our Premium PHP Developers.

Name: Steve Kane

Role within 4mation: PHP Developer

What are you passionate about in this field? I love creating animations and games using the latest web technologies including HTML5 canvas and WebGL. It’s amazing how far web browsers have come in a few short years allowing us to create things never before thought possible outside of a standalone application.

How does it challenge you? When clients ask for new features, chances are they have never been developed before and we need to think of a way to create these new pieces of functionality.

How long have you been with 4mation? 16 months.

What’s been your greatest achievement whilst working here? Exponentially increasing my knowledge of software development in a very short period of time by being surrounded by a team who’s always willing to share their experience.

Which clients do you often work with? All the deals, First State Super, Horsezone and PeoplePulse.

What are you working on at the moment? We have just launched a new website for First State Super and are now implementing some cool new features such as a funky new way to display wide tables on mobile devices.

What do you enjoy about working for 4mation? The atmosphere in the office and the chemistry between all of the staff members make it so enjoyable to work every day. There is never a situation where you are on your own to figure out a problem or just need general advice.

What are you learning at the moment as part of your role here? Building native Android and iOS mobile applications.  Mobile websites these days are getting better and better, however, there is still a need for native applications to give your users the best experience for speed and responsiveness.

Where were you born/grow up? Born in Sydney, grew up in Adelaide/Sydney.

Who/what inspires you? Two Aussie sports stars, Anna Mears because of her incredible comeback to win an Olympic gold medal after almost never walking again, and Mark Webber for his pure professionalism and dedication to Australian sport.

Where would we find you on your day off, and what would you be doing? On my mountain bike trying not hurt myself! And then recovering after I hurt myself.

Geek confession: I may have written a little program that generates pi to a very large number of decimal places.

If your life was turned into a movie, you would be played by? Matt Damon. Why? Look at him!

Personal motto: The probability of someone watching you is proportionate to the stupidity of your action.

We have a team of 35+ experts like Steve in our Surry Hills office in Sydney. Call us if you would like to talk to one of them about improving your website or business system
