We are proud to rank #3 in this year’s Best Places To Work Study, a catalogue of the 50 highest rated employers nationally. This is a huge win for us, and could not have been done without our incredible team and the ongoing support of our fantastic clients.
The Best Places to Work study is widely acclaimed in Australia. Based on one of the world’s most comprehensive studies of workplace culture by Great Place to Work Australia, the quality of this year’s study was higher than ever. Our result in the study is a testament to our willpower and innovation to retain a happy, engaged, loyal and high performing team.
Our mission, “We help our clients succeed by identifying opportunities and delivering solutions that people love to use”, is brought to life through our award winning culture. Here are some of the things that make us unique.
We practice our value of Transparency by encouraging feedback from the entire team via Confluence, our online knowledge base. All Team Members are encouraged to contribute, and every quarter our team prepares a plan with appropriate team members held accountable for delivery. Every member of every team is involved in this process, and encouraged to suggest ideas to help the team, our clients and our business achieve their objectives.
Team members are encouraged to offer suggestions whenever they identify an opportunity for improvement – whether the improvement is internal or with a client. This is in line with the company’s Creativity value: “We think creatively, consider and build on existing solutions, and enlist the help of others to create new concepts and solve problems. We constantly challenge our thinking, and when a better way is found, implement it so the whole team can benefit.”
Open communication is promoted through open discussion. All team members, including senior management and team leads, are taught to solicit feedback and suggestions which fosters trust, collaboration and innovation.
We understand it can be hard to find time to exercise so we encourage our team to participate in daily lunchtime outdoor activities. Healthy, fit people come back feeling fresh and ready to take on the afternoon, which makes for a happier and more productive team.
We also offer an Annual Exercise Initiative to each team member once a year, on the anniversary of their start date at 4mation. Each team member can choose one of several options, all of which help to keep us fit and healthy!
We have an autonomous approach to work. Team members are trusted to proactively perform tasks and use their initiative to solve challenges. Our managers are available to provide support on request, but don’t micromanage or check in every few minutes – they trust our team members to do their jobs professionally.
Open communication is promoted through open discussion, senior leaders and team leaders constantly solicit feedback and suggestions, which fosters trust, collaboration and innovation.
100% of our Team Members agree:
“A lot of time is invested in our culture (including having an employee dedicated to it) and ensuring that the company is doing everything it can to provide a great work environment. 4mation really understands the need to help its staff members improve and grow professionally, we are given the opportunities we need for this as well as being provided with a dedicated training resource. Feedback from Team Members is always taken into account at our quarterly ‘feedback forums’ and top voted suggestions are actioned within 90 days. We are also active in the community, by promoting, sponsoring and hosting meetups.”
The 2016 Best Places to Work will be published in a feature insert in Australian Financial Review and www.greatplacetowork.com.au on Wednesday 31st August, 2016.
