Optimising user experience with implementation of new functionalities

Jason and Purati Lighting first engaged 4mation to further design and develop their existing website, which included building some new functionalities to improve the user experience. These improvements and additions of important features meant that customers can very clearly find what product they want, customise on-site and share specific product information and details with customers and other stakeholders on a project.

The story

Purati lighting is a premium, architectural lighting brand who have been in business for 15 years. Purati develops and produces aesthetical LED, technological and high-quality lighting systems, and lighting control.  Purati has recently launched in Australia, and wants to build up its presence here through a new and improved website.

The challenge

Purati needed a partner to create a seamless and intuitive user experience for its target market mainly consisting of architects, lighting designers, quality builders and project managers. Due to the large number of products available as well as the different variations, 4mation was tasked with introducing a number of new features to create a seamless experience to make choosing the right product easy.

By selecting to develop the existing WordPress site, we were able to develop and integrate the below plug-ins:

  • Creating a product screen with search and filtering functionality
  • Building a specifications table under each product page
  • Creating a screen where users can further configure the variation of the product
  • Inserting a colour swatch option while browsing products
  • Implementing a downloads feature where customers can download installation instructions, IES files and product images
  • Enabling customers to share products by inputting an email address to send the product information to

Through implementing plug-ins into the existing site, the costs that usually accompany custom-built applications were greatly reduced.

Furthermore, more than 50% of website visits are driven by mobile devices, so 4mation is also needed to ensure that all the solutions were made mobile-friendly.

The result

4mation was able to develop and improve the Purati website, by adding high-impact features to its existing website and a responsive layout to optimise viewing and experience across various devices. Customers can now use a platform in which they can easily browse a number of different products and product variations to make the right choice for their project.
